The Background Remover uses AI to detect your subject and remove the background in one click. The result is a clean, transparent PNG you can drop into any design, composite, or presentation without manual masking or editing. Cost: 10 credits per image. Go to Tools > Image > Background Remover in the Artnex sidebar.

Best practices

Use good lighting

Well-lit subjects with clear contrast against their background produce the cleanest cutouts. Avoid underexposed or flat images where subject and background blend together.

Clear subject edges

Subjects with well-defined edges — products, people, objects — give the AI more to work with. Loose fabrics, hair, or transparent objects may need touch-up in a separate editor.

Avoid busy backgrounds

A cluttered background with colors similar to your subject (e.g., a person in front of a similarly-toned wall) is harder for the model to separate cleanly. A contrasting background improves accuracy.

Try different source crops

If the result clips part of your subject, try cropping out peripheral distractions before uploading. A tighter crop helps the model focus on the correct subject.
For product photos, a white or neutral solid-color background in the source image consistently produces the cleanest transparent cutout.

Common use cases

  • E-commerce listings — Place products on white or custom marketplace backgrounds.
  • Marketing assets — Drop subjects onto branded scenes or color fields.
  • Design mockups — Combine cutouts with Artnex-generated backgrounds or import into design tools.
  • Profile photos — Remove distracting backgrounds from headshots before updating company directories or social profiles.
